Committee formed
On Monday evening 20.11.17, in a meeting room at the Lake Macquarie City Council Chambers, an Arts Heart Committee was formalised with Sharon Davson as its Foundation President and Creative Director. Sharon has over thirty years’ experience as a professional artist and business owner in arts management. She was CEO Founder of three previously successful charitable community initiatives in Australia and internationally – Artists for Life, 48 Hours Toward World Peace and Hands Up, and brings that experience to the project.
Marcia Choi was elected as Secretary Treasurer. Marcia has a construction industry background and nearly three decades of experience in volunteer organisations including being Centre Support Team/Office Administrator for Sukyo Mahikari, Sydney. She will be assisted in her role by Geoff Alderdice, Secretary for Morisset Rotary Club and a retired accountant and businessman.

The strong and willing committee includes Geraldine Moran (Founder / CEO Centre for Hope charity, Personal & Business Coach, author, solicitor); Jason Pauling (Councillor at Lake Macquarie City Council); Graham Ramsay (Photographer and printer with decades of high-end art image experience, business person); Karen Sabarre (Karen S – Entertainment Agencies, Major Event organiser, leader in Beauty Pageant Industry; Founder of the MAQuest and Teal Wings Of Hope charity, Queens of Our Beautiful Planet International Pageant); Karin Kolenko (the inspiration behind Gold Coast Benji PHD, the world’s greatest fundraising Dog, formerly with Alzheimer’s Australia); Ricky Briggs(auctioneer, General Manager – LJ Hooker Morisset, volunteer Mandalong Rural Fire Service); and Fiona Hall (President of Southlake Business Chamber and Community Alliance and Marriage Celebrant).
Arts Heart also has quality advisors including Tony Lawder (President Davson Arts Museum, Business Consultant); Peter Francis (with Dantia – the economic development company for Lake Macquarie City); Kevin Baker (Councillor at Lake Macquarie City Council); Jason Street (Hospital Chaplain, Hunter New England Mental Health, including for Morisset Hospital); Alan Johnson (Occupational Arts and Gardening Therapist at Morisset Hospital, Hunter New England Mental Health); Celia Berrell (poet, internationally published in education text books and contracted monthly publications, writer, presenter); Mick Payze (President Morisset Rotary Club, Consultant – Shipping and Freight) and others.
