Davson ~ World Leaders & Enlightenment

29 January to 21 May 2010
Major Retrospective Art Exhibitions are only mounted, displayed and toured, after the artist has excelled and is considered a creative leader.

The calibre of Davson’s art, and the recognition and high level of esteem concerning her respected place in the chronicle of our times, is evidenced by such exhibitions.

The collection is a stunning, multi-million dollar survey collection of Sharon Davson's art from 1972 - 2009
Davson ~ World Leaders & Enlightenment was presented as theDavson Arts Museum’s inaugural exhibition in February 2010.

(A previous showing, of Davson ~ World Leaders & Enlightenment in November 2009, represented the inaugural exhibition of the new Lockyer Valley Cultural Centre in Gatton, Queensland.)

The collection highlights Davson’s inspirational creativity, providing insights into her spiritual and charitable endeavours spanning over 30 years of her international career. The Davson ~ World Leaders & Enlightenment exhibition follows the artist's developmental process from art student in the early 1970's to internationally accomplished creative leader. Davson’s concepts have progressively been embraced by many around the globe, such as her Hands Up celebrity handprints to raise funds for charity.

'Gratitude enlightens and precedes peace' is a recurrent theme in this exhibition, inspiring us toward greater self-enlightenment and harmony with all living things on our Earth.[read more="Read more" less="Read less"] Sir Cliff Richard OBE, Leo Sayer, Dame Cleo Laine OBE, Helen Reddy, Afro Moses, Silverchair, James Belushi, James Garner, Tom Burlinson, Jon Stevens, Tim Finn, Olivia Newton-John and many more have generously participated.Major works include the work-in-progress Creative World Leadership with over 40 original autographed contributions by world leaders from the creative fields.

This exhibition showcases 50 milestone works. They illuminate Davson’s journey of artistic skills, empathy and optimism. During the 1983 filming of a documentary set in South Australia about her art, 901 to Innamincka, a rare self-portrait gives insightful clues about her affinity with vulnerable wildlife and growing passion for their protection.

Davson's original silk-screen prints and other press originals from 1972- 1974 have a whimsical attitude.

The collection had also been exhibited at theStanthorpe Regional Art Gallery in Queensland in early 2008. This was Davson’s second exhibition with the Stanthorpe Regional Art Gallery. In 1999, they presented the opening exhibition of Davson's first major retrospective touring exhibition titled, Davson ~ With Gratitude For The Light. However, her earlier inner conflicts are powerfully expressed through her etchings and other original press-prints from 1972 to 1985. Woven limited edition prints and original silk-screen prints created between 1987 and 2006 illustrate the artist’s maturing optimism and empowered visual expression.

The D~WL&E collection first previewed in late 2006 - early 2007 in the Hunter Valley Gardens, Pokolbin, New South Wales. [/read]
