A Time to Grow is of major developmental significance. It marks a break from jig-saw or water pattern motifs which feature strongly in the artists mature work and is the only time such angular design has appeared in her art.

In 2011 Pat Farmer ran from pole to pole. Davson was both the official artist and also the first artist to be a significant sponsor of an international sporting event. The event took place across 14 countries. Tribulations reflects some of the challenges the runner and the artist faced in the lead-up to this world record making Pole to Pole run from the North Pole to the South Pole through the Americas.

This painting has shown in two major retrospective exhibitions of Davsons art; the With Gratitude For The Light exhibition which toured in public regional art galleries from 1999 to 2002, and with the Davson ~ World Leaders & Enlightenment current exhibition on tour

In their lifetime of creativity, most great artists are remembered for a small handful of significant works. Finding The Balance - Teeth, Claws, Tusks are such works.
